Marketing Manager

Position Title: Marketing Manager 
Reports To: Business Operations Director

Position Overview

The manager of marketing is responsible for the coordination and implementation of communications, public relations, and marketing efforts for the museum. Working collaboratively with the senior leadership team, the manager plays a significant role in defining the image, brand, reputation and market position of the institution.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the planning, organization, and implementation of Kidspace's communications and marketing strategy.
  • Directly responsible for the execution of Kidspace communications and marketing messages through collateral, advertising, email direct mail campaigns, public relations and word-of- mouth.
  • Responsible for public relations activities including maintenance of media contacts, creation and distribution of press releases, staff appearances and speaking engagements at external events and media placement.
  • Represent Kidspace with external constituencies, civic groups and professional organizations. Provide direction to the Retail and Communications Manager in managing the website, social media and on-site promotions.
  • Develop communications and marketing materials and activities to promote institutional sales, services, products and brand in earned and contributed revenue areas.
  • Coordinate development of and participation of Kidspace in internal and external events that support the communication, marketing, and brand enhancement strategy.
  • Liaise with the graphic designer consultant and third party partnerships to ensure they provide maximum value.
  • Recommend adjustments to communications and marketing strategies based on research and analysis of guest feedback and monitoring of changing market and competitive conditions.
  • In collaboration with executive management, give input for development of the Kidpsace brand identity and ensure adherence to institutional graphics standards and stylebook.

Other Tasks:

  • Firmly establish a professional, proactive communications and marketing program that seeks to expand Kidspace's communications and marketing productivity that is consistent with Kidspace's institutional strategic and long-range plans.
  • Continually pursue new and innovative ways to help attract additional resources of all types for institutional enhancement.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • BA/BS required.
  • Three to five years experience in creating and executing communications and marketing initiatives.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; administrative and management skills; writing and public speaking skills; organizational and planning skills; attention to detail and follow-through capabilities.
