Summer Camps 2017

Welcome to the wonderful world of Kidspace Summer Camps! We have an exciting lineup of programs this year that promise to transport your child to a world of exploration and adventure where they will create lasting memories. Camp descriptions and pricing are below. DUE TO LACK OF GRANT FUNDING WE ARE UNABLE TO OFFER SCHOLARSHIPS FOR THIS YEAR'S CAMP.

All camps are designed for children ages 5 to 9 years old, with the exception of Little Learners Camp. Children must meet the age requirements in order to enroll in and remain in camp.

You will receive a confirmation upon completion of your online transaction. A week prior to the start of your camp you will receive an email from Marco Calderon with camp registration documents that will need to be completed by the first day of camp.

WEEK 1

Little Learners Camp    
June 12 to June 16

Designed exclusively for children ages 4 to 5, Little Learners Campers will explore the wonders of nature in and around Kidspace. Campers will plant their own crops, create art using natural materials, and experience the joys of getting messy with mud! They will also play in and learn about water, dress up as their favorite animal, and meet some of Kidspace’s resident critters. Filled with wonderful opportunities for imaginative play and developing a comfort with and appreciation for nature, this week promises to instill a love for camp in your little learner.   (*Parents enrolling their children in Little Learners Camp are required to attend a mandatory Parent Orientation on Monday June 5,  from 7 to 8pm.  Additional details about the orientation will be emailed.  Please contact Max Rosa at (626) 449-9144 ext. 520 with questions about this week or the orientation.)

WEEK 2

Critter Camp    
June 19 to June 23

Discover the amazing world of the animal kingdom, and explore how animals make the planet a fascinating and beautiful place! Campers will learn about the wonders of adaptation, meet all the members of the Kidspace animal collection, and examine the ways in which animals survive and thrive in different environments, and explore the human-animal connection. After going on a safari, stepping into the shoes of a veterinarian, and making their very own animal costume, campers will realize that “acting like an animal” can be a good thing!

WEEK 3

Mad Science Camp: Fantastic Flora    
June 26 to June 30

Discover plants that bite, ooze, prickle and smell while delving into the world of botany. While donning their own lab coats, goggles, and kooky wigs, campers will explore all the weird things that grow from the earth including the slimy, stinky and voracious.  Kids will make their own swamp, feed carnivorous foliage, and dissect the exotic stinky fruits.  Through the wonders of art, chemistry and our imaginations we’ll unlock the secrets of this silent kingdom.

WEEK 4

Treasure Hunter Camp    
July 10 to July 14

Treasures are everywhere if you know where to look!  In this interdisciplinary camp we will unearth the treasures of the world around us.  Campers will use their imaginations to sail the seven seas, learn tools to dig up their inner archeologist, dive into the depths of the sea, and reach for the stars as we explore the “final frontier” of outer space in the Discovery Dome.  Art, Science and Nature investigation come together as we explore for hidden treasures.

WEEK 5

Demolition Camp    
July 24 to July 28

Explore the world of knocking down, breaking apart, and exploding into to air. Campers will find a new world inside the art of taking apart things that we see every day.  After breaking open geodes and plants, taking apart everyday objects, and making their very own wrecking balls campers, will also realize that after things have been taken apart, sometimes the magic is in how you put it back together.

WEEK 6

Storyteller Camp    
July 31 to August 4

Everyone has a story to tell!  The new Storyteller Studio exhibit at Kidspace Children’s Museum will inspire us to bring stories to life with art, music, puppetry and dramatic play.  In this hands on camp we will paint a masterpiece, build and perform puppets and feel of rhythm of instruments we make ourselves.  Campers will explore different materials and art forms to help express the storyteller and artist within.

WEEK 7

Space Odyssey Camp    
August 7 to August 11

Journey into outer space at Kidspace! Campers will take on the role of little astronauts as they embark upon missions that explore the mysteries of the universe.  They will learn about the environments and atmosphere of outer space through mind-blowing experiments and demonstrations, experiment with robotics and discover the mythology of the cosmos inside a giant planetarium.  Special programming this year will focus on solar science as we prepare for the great American Eclipse of 2017.  Campers will never stare up at the stars quite the same again.

All camps are designed for children ages 5 to 9 years old, with the exception of Little Learners Camp. Children must meet the age requirements in order to enroll in and remain in camp.

Activities in the morning are always different from activities in the afternoon. Activities are never repeated as every session is different.

Refund Policy

Camp registration fees are refundable in full only if cancelled at least 5 days prior to start of camp (by 5:00 PM on the Tuesday before the camp week).  Paid registration can be rescheduled to another week based on availability.
