  • Caterpillar Adoption Days
    Saturday, March 21 to Sunday, May 3 - Witness the life cycle of a Painted Lady Butterfly by adopting a caterpillar in the Busy Bee Learning Store. For $4, receive a caterpillar, its food and care guide, as well as the adoption certificate to name your caterpillar. Or get a cup of 5 caterpillars for $18. Draw each stage of metamorphosis on your life cycle observation sheet and then release your adult butterflies into the natural world. Caterpillar Adoption Days run from March 21st through May 3rd while weekly supplies last. Also, join us for Kidspace’s Grand Butterfly Release on May 2 & 3! Be sure to visit kidspacemuseum.org during Adoption Days for caterpillar information and availability.

  • Illustrator Visit and Alien Creature Creation with Brian Won
    Saturday, April 25 -  Join award winning picture book illustrator, Brian Won, as he reads and signs his newest book, Outer Space Bedtime Race. Brian will also lead an interactive workshop on how to draw an alien creature like the ones in his book. Taking inspiration from Brian’s fantastic aliens, guests are invited to create their own alien creatures in Flutterby’s Art Center and Imagination Workshop. Illustrator reading and signing will take place at 1:00 pm.
  • Habitats for Animal Friends
    Friday, April 24, 3:00 to 3:30 pm - Join Louise, Kidspace Nature Specialist, each month in the Nature exchange for this short program where we learn how to care for our pets! This month is all about our frog and toad friends.

  • 19th Annual Grand Butterfly Release
    Saturday & Sunday, May 2 & 3, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, each day -  This two-day spring event is full of interactive activities and hands-on learning culminating in the release of over 500 Butterflies, each day, into the Kidspace Gardens. Activities include: face painting, drinking nectar like a butterfly, amphitheater shows, butterfly-themed story and music time, butterfly art, as well as a special musical guest to help release the butterflies. Please note: butterflies will be released at 2:00 pm each day only. As always, guests are welcome to bring their own butterflies and release them anytime during the weekend.
  • Free Family Night
    Tuesday, May 5, 4:00 to 8:00 pm -  At Free Family Night in May, discover the art and culture of the Aztecs. Craft your own Teotihuacan Mask, learn about and color Aztec hieroglyphs, and create Aztec rain sticks. At 5:00 and 6:00 pm enjoy a performance from an Aztec Storyteller and at 6:30 pm there will be a special demonstration of Aztec dance. Free Family Night is supported, in part, by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Arts Commission, the Michael J. Connell Foundation, and the City of Pasadena Arts & Culture Commission. Admission is free from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
  • Spring M.A.D.ness: Member Appreciation Days
    Friday to Sunday, May 8 to 10 -  It’s Spring M.A.D.ness! Member Appreciation Days at Kidspace and participating SoCal Museums offering reciprocal admission and 20% off on merchandise. Find or create something special for Mother’s Day and enter the Members Only Raffle to win $200 worth of books and toys!
  • Memorial Day Weekend
    Saturday to Monday, May 23 to 25 -  Enjoy bird-themed activities like egg matching, feather mural creation, and flight-based physics experiments. Guests can also participate in the famous Rubber Ducky Race in the Kidspace Gardens!  To participate in the race, purchase a rubber ducky from the Busy Bee Learning Store (while supplies last), decorate it, then join other guests and race your rubber ducky down the Arroyo. Races will run hourly from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.

  • Free Family Night
    Tuesday, June 2 -  June Free Family Night is devoted to theater. Create theater masks at Flutterby’s Art Center and finger puppet mini movies in Imagination Workshop. Enjoy an improv performance and workshop in the Amphitheater at 5:00 pm and a special theatrical performance at 6:00 pm. Free Family Night is supported, in part, by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors through the Los Angeles County Arts Commission, the Michael J. Connell Foundation, and the City of Pasadena Arts & Culture Commission. Admission is free from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
  • Twilight Night: Super Powers & Sci-Fi Quest
    Friday, June 12, 5:00 to 8:00 pm -  Calling all super heroes and sci-fi fanatics, join us in an out of this world Twilight experience. Create super hero masks and capes, design a “franken-toy” in our Twilight Zone, and launch a rocket! Come dressed in your favorite super hero, sci-fi or space costume, and participate in the Space Parade. Admission is $7 per person and free for Kidspace Members.
  • International Mud Celebration
    Saturday & Sunday, June 20 & 21 -  Join the celebration of all things mud! Started in 2009, this worldwide event aims to connect children with nature, the outdoors, and the joys of getting messy. Activities include making a mud pie masterpiece, creating homemade seed bombs, collaborating on a communal mud mural, and much more!
