Have you ever wanted to be a paleontologist, botanist, entomologist, or marine biologist? Kids will feel like scientists when they join Kidspace educators for these very hands on science Inquiry based learning workshops.
Program Time: 2:00pm Saturday & Sunday on the 3rd Weekend of each Month
Age Range: Appropriate for children ages 5 and up. Be sure to check each class description for more specific information.

Class: Lapidary Art Do you have a rock that's a real gem? Would you like to show the world a mineral's hidden beauty? This Lapidary Art workshop is for you. A gemstone is just a rock, or mineral, that has been treated to the Lapidary Arts. Lapidary is the art of cutting, grinding, sanding and polishing rocks and minerals. Join us for this program to learn about the art of rock polishing wth some real hands-on practice.

Class: Rocket Science Ever wonder why rockets blast off? Test different types of rockets and learn the science behind getting them off the ground. For ages 7 and up.

Class: Geodes Rock Want to see something that really rocks? Geodes are rocks that hold crystals or agate inside. Come learn the geology of geodes, then crack open your own geode and polish it on the Kidspace stone polisher.

Class: Magnetic Fun Are you attracted to fun? This workshop is all about the fun of attraction and, specifically, magnets. Come explore the properties of magnetism with our Physic Forest specialist. We will use magnetic wands to explore magnetic forces, try to confuse compass needles, and make magents hover.

Class: The Physics of Sound Come play in the waves, Sound Waves that is! Learn about vibrations, waves and resonance …oh my! Where does sound come from? How does it move? How do you perceive it? Come play with sound learn to play glasses and make and take home a fun toy! |

Dinosaur Days Special Program Class: Fossil Dig Is your young paleontologist looking for a chance to dig for real fossils? Attendees will get the chance to dig for real fossils buried in “rock.” We will discuss how fossils are made, what we can learn from fossils and how paleontologists find and dig fossils. Each participant will get to take home the fossils they excavate.
