Music runs through my blood. I grew up with several relatives in "the biz." I remember my first concert was Gary Puckett and the Union Gap at Sea World at the tender age of two! Since then, music has had a very important role in my life and I wouldn't have it any other way. With over 400 concerts under my belt, ranging from small local bands to producing showcases for large corporations with major headliners, I like to consider myself a music aficionado.

This summer, Pasadena will be introducing a new musical festival labeled Arroyo Seco Weekend brought to you by no other than the creators of Coachella. This event will take place June 24 and 25 on the golf course behind the Rose Bowl. It will feature three stages of live music starring Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Mumford & Sons, Alabama Shakes, The Shins, Weezer, Fitz & the Tantrums, and more. There will also be curated menus from LA’s celebrated restaurants and chefs.

2930 The best part... children 10 and under are FREE! It's the perfect opportunity to lay a blanket down on the grass, grab some delicious grub, and enjoy a nice day out with the family. I've compiled a tip sheet of things to know to help navigate your way to the best music festival experience at Arroyo Seco Weekend:

•Empty bottles or Camelbaks are allowed in. There will be water stations inside to refill at and stay hydrated throughout the day.

•There are no seats within the festival, but blankets are allowed in!

•Invest in some ear muffs for the children. Ems 4 Kids has several options for the youngest babies to the older children and they come in a variety of cool colors they are sure to love!2929

•Strollers can be brought in. Keep in mind only medium size bags will be allowed in, but there will be lockers available to rent.

• Outside food is not allowed, but why would want to miss out on purchasing a curated picnic basket! Pre-purchases yours here.

• There will be free shuttles running all day from Parsons' Parking Lot B! If desired, you can even take the Metro to the Parsons' lot. Preferred parking is available closer to the Rose Bowl for $50 per day.

• Bring plenty of sunblock and wear a hat, no one wants to leave sun-kissed!

• Worried your kids might lose interest and become fidgety? Kidspace will be offering the Family Jam area, which will include six activity areas for the little ones to enjoy. Create your own concert buttons, feel the music at the instrument petting zoo and so much more! It will be tented and a great way to catch some shade

You can purchase festival passes and read the full list of rules here. Create memories with the family while introducing cultural activities to them. I know appreciate my mother for doing the same for me! I hope to see you and your family at Arroyo Seco Weekend!
