Storyteller Studio Opening November 13!

Join in the celebration and tell your tale at Kidspace’s new Storyteller Studio! Activities will include making sock puppets and costumes, group storyboarding, enjoying story times around the museum, and listening to roaming minstrels. Also, don’t miss a special puppet show and a workshop on puppeteering techniques! The opening will take place on Sunday, November 13, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Storyteller Studio is the latest addition to the museum since the opening of Arroyo Adventure in Spring. “We wanted to create a kid-driven experience rooted in the visual and performing arts.  The new Storyteller’s Studio experience will be dynamic with lots of fun loose parts,” said Kidspace Chief Executive Officer, Michael Shanklin. Children will have the opportunity to share their story through acting, singing, drawing, painting, or sculpting. Explore with puppets, create your own costumes, or read together and stage your own performance. Children will be able to nurture their creative side and express themselves in their own way.

The space will feature 4 new distinct, interactive areas -- Pretend, Art, Puppets, and Stories that broaden the types of art based learning the museum offers. “The arts encourage creativity and are a conduit for children to express thoughts and emotions in healthy ways as they develop and grow,” stated Peter Crabbe, Kidspace Chief Program Officer. This exhibit is designed for children 3 to 6 years old with activities that will also appeal to a broader age range. Crabbe continued, “The concept behind Storyteller Studio is that everyone has a story. It inspires young learners to engage the arts in any number of ways: telling or listening to a story, playing a role, painting and making, or contemplating the stories contained in their everyday lives.”
