Gardens Take a stroll through our many gardens, designed by internationally recognized landscape artist Nancy Goslee Power, and discover many plants native to the Arroyo setting.

Bee and Butterfly Garden Buddleias and salvias attract butterflies and bees.
Bumpy Fuzzy Garden A collection of fun, textural plants, such as Kangaroo Paws, Lion’s Tail, and Lamb’s Ears, will invite children to touch and investigate.

Oak Grove Native drought-tolerant plants, such ceanothus, Santa Barbara daisy and Matilija poppy, are planted around the Earthen Arch and Fox Den discovery loop. An oak woodland provides a canopy for a trail of discoveries.
Redwood Forest Woodland ferns, native lilies, bulbs and giant coral bells are planted around the Rootwad and Redwood Grove discovery loop, an open area in the middle of the Forest.

Stone Hollow Stone Hollow is the natural learning circle just north of the historic Wisteria Pergola and the Wisteria Courtyard. View performances, take classes and participate in museum activities in this area that surrounds a stage shaped like a giant frog. Click HERE to learn more.

The Arroyo Kidspace’s “Interpretive Arroyo” is a mini model of Pasadena’s own Arroyo Seco, with gentle, rolling water and native plants for you to explore and discover. With periodic "rain" off the covered bridge, the Interpretive Arroyo provides a perfect setting for children to learn about the water cycle as they splash around. The Meadow The Meadow is planted with grasses and seeded flowers.
The Pond Located at the top of the site, a small woodland pond forms a ribbon of water that winds through the gardens, bringing back the refreshing sight, sound and feel of water. Bog sage, cape rush, brown sedge and cattails are planted around the pond.

Willow Hollow Graceful willows form a shaded archway over the walking path that weaves through sand play areas.

Woodland Path Native plants and irises frame a natural path alongside Stone Hollow, leading from the Wisteria Walk to the main garden path.
