Kirby’s Kids Corner
Hours of experiential play and discovery for infants and toddlers await at Kirby’s Kids Corner, the fun outdoor learning environment at Kidspace Children's Museum for children ages 4 and under.
Nestled behind the Marilyn and Jud Roberts Pavilion, colorful structures, designed by Danish company Kompan, provide a variety of activities and opportunities for fine motor skill development, balance and gravity skills, color and sound recognition, water play, measurement, problem solving skills, dramatic play, and parent-child bonding. Socialization skills will be learned as children follow rules, share, and take turns. In addition, the area also features benches with built in storage for caregivers to supervise safe toddler play.
The entire exhibit is set on SAFDEK, a padded and spongy flooring material. Kirby’s Kids Corner is a playscape where children can play in a playhouse, slide down a slide and have fun investigating the properties of water at a water table.
Kirby’s Kids Corner also features a tricycle track exclusively for young ones with tricycles that are age-appropriate.
The Kidspace Education Department also facilitates special programming at Kirby’s Kids Corner every day from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. Some of these activities include bubble blowing and storytelling.
