Is my child the right age for Kidspace?

The programs and exhibits at Kidspace are designed for families with children ages 10 and under.


May I drop off my kids at the museum?

No. Kidspace requires that children be accompanied by an adult at all times while at the museum. Programming and exhibits encourages adult-child interaction and a dual learning experience.


May adults come to the museum without kids?

For the safety of all guests, unaccompanied adults must sign-in and present a photo ID. Unaccompanied adults must wear a button identifying them as a visitor for the duration of their visit. This policy is in line with others set forth by children’s museums across the nation for the safety of children.


May I bring my dog to the museum?

Dogs and other pets are not permitted inside Kidspace, with the exception of service dogs specially trained to assist disabled persons.


May I smoke at the museum?

No, there is no smoking, or tobacco products of any kind, permitted in the museum or in Brookside Park per City of Pasadena regulations.


May I bike to Kidspace?

If you and your family ride bikes to Kidspace, there are bike racks within Brookside Park adjacent to the museum. There are no racks or bike storage within the Kidspace facility. Please note that park bike racks require your own bike locks.


Where may I nurse my child?

As an institution that values children and mothers, you are welcome to nurse wherever you feel comfortable.


May I take photos at the museum?

Yes, you are welcome to take as many photos of your family’s experience at the museum as you would like. If you post on social media, remember to tag @KidspaceMuseum. If you are interested in taking photos for a publication, please contact media@kidspacemuseum.org.


Who can I speak with about donating items or animals to the museum?

Any requests to donate animals to the museum must be approved by our Programs Department, programs@kidspacemuseum.org.


Are there any other options for visiting the museum at a reduced rate?

Kidspace Family Memberships are a great option. Memberships start at $125 and include unlimited FREE admission. Visit the Kidspace Membership for more information. See also the Hours & Admission page to view discounts for EBT card holders, seniors, and military.


I’m running late. Will I still be able to enter with my timed ticket?

Yes, there is a 30-minute grace period to redeem your tickets.

 

Camp Questions

How safe are camps?

  • Campers are grouped in stable learning cohorts with the same staff assigned throughout camp.
  • Activities are designed to maintain physical distancing.
  • Face coverings are required to be properly worn indoors by all campers, staff, and parents/guardians. Kidspace strongly recommends that campers wear masks while outdoors.
  • Handwashing will be readily accessible and planned into camp activities.
  • To protect the health of campers and staff, parents and guardians will not be allowed on campus. Pick up and drop off will take place outside of museum grounds.
  • Kidspace requests that parents and guardians screen their campers for COVID-19 symptoms and exposure prior to admission to campus.
  • Campers or staff who show symptoms of COVID-19 will be sent home.

May parents visit camp?

As much as we would like to have you, no. To protect the health of campers and staff, parents and guardians will not be allowed on campus. Pick up and drop off will take place outside of museum grounds.


Is there member pricing for camps?

Yes. Members receive a $50 discount on all camps and access to pre-sale opportunities when camp registration is opened.


Will camp scholarships be offered?

Scholarships are offered through select partner nonprofits only.


Will aftercare be offered?

Unfortunately, aftercare is not available.

What areas do you have available for our event?

Kidspace is offers both outdoor and indoor indoor spaces for event rental during operating hours.

Do you offer any add-on experiences?

Yes! We offer two add-on experiences for guests age 5 and over and are adding more all the time.

Get Crackin’ Geodes

Party like a rock star! Our “geologist” will help you discover how geodes are formed and develop their beautiful sparkle. The birthday child will get a special geode “unboxing” experience before everyone gets to break open their own geode to take home.

Graffi-Tee Painting

Bring out your inner Warhol and create a piece of wearable art. Participants will play with paint and stencils to design their own fashion statement. Everyone will contribute to a community artwork for the birthday child and create their own t-shirt to take home.

Your party specialist can assist you in selecting the best add-on for your party.


Should I include add-ons for everyone, even adults?

Our add-on experiences are designed for kids between the ages of five and ten, but some adults love to join in, too.


Does Kidspace offer catering for my party?

Yes, Kidspace is happy to recommend Bean Sprouts as our preferred caterer. Bean Sprouts offers a variety of family favorites, from pizza to salads and quesadillas. View their menu here.


Can I choose another caterer?

Yes, however food preparation is not permitted on campus during operating hours.
You may wish to consider hosting your private event outside of Kidspace’s normal open hours if you would like to have food preparation on-site during your event.


Can I bring in or order my own food?

Yes, you are more than welcome to order your own food or have it delivered to Kidspace for your party. However, Kidspace does not offer a freezer, refrigeration, or food storage for outside food. Glass containers, alcohol, and open flame warmers are not allowed on site during operating hours.


Do you provide ice?

If you select party catering from Bean Sprouts, they can supply ice for your party. If you are not ordering from Bean Sprouts, you will need to bring in your own ice. We can provide a tub for ice and drinks upon request. Please let your Kidspace party specialist know prior to your event.


Can we serve alcohol at our event?

Alcohol is not permitted at Kidspace during regular operating hours. If you would like to have alcohol service at your party, please consider an after-hours facility rental.


Can I use my own party planner, photographer, or entertainer?

Yes, however all outside vendors, including photographers, party planners, entertainers, caterers, etc., must first be approved my Kidspace. Before you hire an outside vendor, please speak with your Kidspace party specialist to review the vendor approval process. Please allow a minimum of fifteen days for Kidspace to review your request.


Does Kidspace help with set-up and clean up?

Kidspace Staff will help you bring your supplies to your party space. However, they will not be able to assist set-up of paper goods or additional décor brought in by a host. At the end of the party, Kidspace will clear all items that we set up, but will not be able to assist in breakdown of additional décor or props brought in by the host or pack left over food.


Some of my guests are members of Kidspace. Are they still included in the guest count?

Yes, members are included in your guest count. Kidspace Birthday Parties and private events are considered a separate experience from the daily programs available during a regular visit.


At what age are kids included in the guest count?

Any child aged 12 months and older will be counted as a guest at a party. Infants under 12 months will not be counted.


Do Kidspace members receive a discount on their party?

No. Kidspace members receive discounts guest admission, in our Museum Store, gift memberships, camps, and classes. There is no member discount on parties or private events.


Yes. All of our party spaces are furnished with tables for adults and kids, and have a place to display a birthday cake or collect gifts.

Can we bring our own paper goods or tablecloths?

Yes. Feel free to bring any party goods or disposable items, including table covers, utensils, plates, and cups, you feel you might need. If you prefer, Kidspace offers party goods for an additional charge. Your party specialist can help you review your options.

Can we bring in our own decorations or toys?

Yes, you are welcome to bring in decorations, with some limitations:

  • There is a total 30-minute set up time before each party
  • We ask that nothing be taped to the walls, floor, or ceiling, and that walkways are not obstructed
  • Furniture, large props, large balloon arches, and other oversize items are not be permitted
  • Play items such as Nerf guns, water guns, Frisbees, pretend swords, and beach balls are not permitted
  • Please consult with your Kidspace party specialist about any additional play items or décor you wish to bring to confirm they are acceptable

How early can I come to Kidspace to set up for my party?

You are welcome to come thirty minutes before your party start time to set up.


Do I have to clean up after my party?

We ask that you remove any party décor you bring in. Kidspace staff will clean the party space and remove trash. You will have thirty minutes after your party for clean-up.

Note: Birthday parties include thirty minutes to set up, two hours of event time, and thirty minutes to clean up and exit the party space. To ensure all parties run smoothly, we cannot extend your party time. Running over your allotted time will subject result in an overage charge.


What happens if my guests arrive early?

Your package includes admission for all your guests, up to the agreed party capacity. They are welcome to arrive early and stay until closing. However, Kidspace cannot be responsible for identifying guests on your list if you are not present.


Can we stay at Kidspace after our event is over?

Absolutely. All party guests are welcome to stay until closing.


Can we bring a piñata?

No. Due to safety concerns, piñatas are not permitted at parties. Please see our special add ons!


Can we bring balloons?

Yes, balloons are permitted, but they must be weighted. Balloon arches, or large towers are not permitted.


When is payment collected?

Payment is collected electronically once your party contract is signed. Parties are considered reserved only after payment is made.


What if I need to cancel or reschedule the event?

You may cancel or reschedule up to 15 days prior to your event. If you request a refund, a $75 processing fee will apply. We cannot refund or reschedule parties within 14 days of the party date.


What if it rains?

In general, our party locations are available rain or shine. In some circumstances, weather may require us to relocate your party to another area of Kidspace. Should this occur, we will refund any difference in price based on the cost of the replacement party area.


Will I receive a refund for guests do not show up?

Your party reservation includes a private space and an allotment of admissions for the capacity of that space. Whether the space is full or not is up to you.


Do you provide an email invitation I can send to my guests?

Party invitations are not included in your package.


Am I allowed to tip the Kidspace staff?

Our staff does not accept tips, but donations to the museum are very welcome. Kidspace is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and donations may be made here.
