What are the Valentine's Week traditions in your family? Do you make cards, call grandma, bake cupcakes, or have a date night? One of the traditions we've had for years at our house is reading Consider Love by Sandra Boynton on Valentine's Day and then take turns writing in the back of the book one thing we love about our family. It's delightful to read all the entries we've made over the years. Sometimes what we wrote is silly, and sometimes it is the sweetest thing we've ever read. There are many wonderful literary traditions for Valentine's Day, including Love Is... prompt poems. Here is an excerpt from a lovely crowdsourced poem I heard on the radio:

Love is Flying to the moon when you see each other
That intricate Rubik's cube that takes light years to unravel
The missing piece that fulfills every puzzle.

Besides reading books, drawing hearts, and saying I love you, I was also looking for more opportunities to talk to our kids about being kind by showing love and understanding to strangers and our community. So we've decided to try out some new traditions! We are going to slow down and talk about how we can share, take care of our neighborhood, include others, and not be afraid to talk about our emotions. Being a store buyer, I began searching for tools we could use for inspiration and conversation starters about being kind. Here are a few of the items that I found to sell in our Busy Bee Learning Store at Kidspace. I hope that they might help and inspire your family too!
