It's Pumpkin Festival Time at Kidspace!

The 24th Annual Pumpkin Festival at Kidspace Children’s Museum, hosted by the Circle of Friends, returns to Brookside Park in front of the museum on October 27 and 28, 2018 from 9:30am to 5:00pm. Families can take part in carnival games, bounce houses, fall crafts, petting zoo, fun photo opportunities, and visit the pumpkin patch while enjoying live performances from local dance and musical groups. Entrance to the Pumpkin Festival is free and tickets will be available for purchase for food and activities. Proceeds benefit Kidspace Children’s Museum, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

In addition to supporting Kidspace, this wonderful community-based event welcomes more than 500 children from underserved communities, proudly known as VIPs (Very Important Pumpkins).  The Circle of Friends provides each VIP with tickets and vouchers to be used for activities and food, as well as an admission pass to return to the museum for a future visit. Kidspace Chief Development Officer, Christine Franke added, “My favorite part of the Pumpkin Festival is welcoming our VIPs. We are thrilled that the Circle of Friends plans to serve more than 500 VIPs this year. I love seeing the kids light up when they arrive – so much joy.”

The Pumpkin Festival is organized by the Circle of Friends, the museum’s volunteer support group, and offers even the youngest children a fun and safe way to celebrate fall. Festival co-chairs Brandi Mathisen and Eryn Kalavsky are proud to be a part of this community building event that has become a Los Angeles fall tradition. “It delights us that so many families can enjoy this classic fall festival and benefit from the generous donations that we receive for the event,” says Kalavsky. “This year, we have our best prizes yet for the kids and an incredible selection of new costumes that will be for sale perfectly timed for Halloween.”

Last year the event hosted almost 20,000 people from the Southern California region and it is poised to do the same this year. “And even better, is that all of the proceeds from the event help Kidspace provide programming and access for underserved communities, which is a driving factor in our volunteer efforts,” stated Mathisen.

The festival has an impressive assortment of food vendors including In-N-Out Burger, Teri & Yaki, Robin’s Wood Fire BBQ, Jones Coffee Roasters, Los Tacos, Mama Musubi, Kona Ice, and Yogurtland. With so much to do, see and sample, families can spend the whole day celebrating the fall season and building excitement for Halloween. This year’s Kidspace Pumpkin Festival is sponsored in part by Stratford School, Milk and Eggs, KIND™, K+, Everest Properties, Jacmar, KidsArt, GymnastiKIDS Inc., Laura Nunnelly, Walden School of California, Pasadena Waldorf School, Pasadena Now, and Outlook Newspapers. And don't miss the amazing performers!
